I hate death

January 6, 2008

That’s really all I wanted to say for right now. I hate death. With all that is within me… I abhor, loathe, and detest death.

I guess it’s a good thing that God is doing away with it in the end, eh?

  1. Amen. I should tell you how thankful I am for your wisdom and thoughtfulness and biblical approach to this issue. I quote you all of the time on the fact that we’re not supposed to be okay with death. The thing is there’s so much blather that gets spread about how “death is a natural process”; “it’s a doorway”; “it’s part of life”; “it’s just a transition” . . . yadda yadda yadda. It’s not that that’s all altogether wrong . . . but mostly it is.

The only reason death is “natural” is because of the Fall; i.e., the only reason it’s status quo is because the status quo is broken. And the only reason that death is a doorway to anything but oblivion is because Jesus conquered it; but that victory is not yet fully realized, so even though we needn’t fear it, we certainly don’t need to make sorry excuses for it or kowtow to it or accept it.
